Ghana, My Best Friend's Home

 

During my two years at KDI School of Public Policy and Management, I became close friends with a classmate from Ghana named Vincent.

Ghana is a country on the Atlantic coast of West Africa.

Its capital city is Accra.

It is one of the most developed countries in Africa with a western-style education system, and maintains active exchanges with Korea.

When we first had a meal together, Vincent gifted(v) me a box of chocolates.

That's how we became close.

Later, he invited me to his dorm, cooked traditional Ghanaian food for me, and even gave me traditional Ghanaian clothing as a gift.

Our friendship was even featured in(~에 다뤄지다) the school newspaper.

I have a special place in my heart for Ghana★.

1. Describe how meeting friends from diverse backgrounds can enrich your life.

I'll have experiences indirectly from their cultures.

So, I've always wanted to make friends from different backgrounds.

If I have friends from overseas, I will cook famous Korean food like 김밥, 유부초밥 and 불고기.

Many foreigners can't eat spicy food, so I'll prepare savory Korean food.

These foods are already very popular online, and it's easy to make.

3. How can people from different countries communicate with each other?

I think they use a common language in English at first.

If they can't speak English, they can use a translator or use body language.

It's not important to talk in same language.

I think it's important to have a conversation in mind with each other.
